2011 Emmy Awards Winners

The Emmy Awards officially announced this year's list of hotly-anticipated 2011 nominees on July 14th. The 63rd Emmy Awards ceremony followed - later than the August airings of past years - with a live telecast on Sunday evening, September 18, 2011 at 8PM ET on FOX. Hosting this year's awards show was popular TV star Jane Lynch who won an Emmy last year for her portrayal as Sue Slyvester on the FOX hit, Glee. Here are the winners in the 2011 Emmy awards:

Outstanding Actor in a Drama - Kyle Chandler, Friday Night Lights. Kyle Chandler is an American film and television actor best known for his roles in the television shows Early Edition as Gary Hobson, Deputy Jackson Lamb in the film Super 8, and as Coach Eric Taylor in Friday Night Lights, for which he won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2011.
Outstanding Actress in a Drama - Julianna Margulies, The Good Wife. Julianna Margulies is an American actress and producer. In 2009, she took the lead role in the American legal drama The Good Wife on CBS, for which she has won a Golden Globe and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. She won the 2011 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her performance as Alicia Florrick on The Good Wife.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama - Peter Dinklage, Game of Thrones. Peter Dinklage is an American film, television and theater actor. Since his breakout role in the 2003 film The Station Agent, he has acted in Elf, Underdog, Find Me Guilty, the 2007 film Death at a Funeral and its 2010 remake, and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Since 2011 he has starred in the HBO series Game of Thrones, based on George R.R. Martin's series of novels A Song of Ice and Fire, which earned him the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama - Margo Martindale, Justified. Margo Martindale is an American stage, television and film actress.[1] On September 18, 2011, Martindale won the 2011 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her performance as Mags Bennett on Justified.

Outstanding Actor in a Comedy - Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory. Jim Parsons is an American television and film actor. He is best known for playing Sheldon Cooper on the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, with his performance often cited as a significant reason for the program's success. He has received several awards for his performance, including the Television Critics Association award for the highest individual achievements in comedy,the National Association of Broadcasters Television Chairman's Award for a significant breakthrough in a specific art discipline,two consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy.

Outstanding Actress in a Comedy - Melissa McCarthy, Mike &Molly. Melissa McCarthy is an American actress and comedienne. She debuted in film in 1998 and continued to play character roles. From 2001 to 2007, she played Sookie St. James on the The WB television series Gilmore Girls. From 2007 to 2009 she played Dena on the ABC sitcom Samantha Who?. She currently stars in the CBS sitcom Mike & Molly, for which she earned an Emmy Award.

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy - Ty Burrell, Modern Family. Ty Burrell is an American actor and comedian. He is best known for his role in the ABC comedy Modern Family as Phil Dunphy, for which he won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2011. He was nominated for the same award in 2010.

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy - Julie Bowen, Modern Family. Julie Bowen is an American film and television actress. She played Carol Vessey on Ed and Denise Bauer on Boston Legal. She is best known for playing Claire Dunphy on the sitcom Modern Family, for which she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2011. She was also nominated in 2010.
